چکیده

Cavitation is an undesirable phenomenon in the pumps. In this paper, unsteady cavitation flow a low-specific-speed centrifugal pump with inducer investigated based on full model and standard k-ε turbulence using commercial software PumpLinx. The numerical results of external performance curve design condition agree well that experiment. bubbles mainly appear outer blade leading edge. regions larger vapor volume fraction impeller increase decreasing NPSHa. expand from edge inlet to hub suction surface. Under very low NPSHa, may be filled passage head drops drastically, there exist distinct back flows near surface outlet. Affected by pre-swirl outlet circle inlet, amplitude pressure fluctuation obviously than at inducer. dominant frequency for four monitoring points shaft frequency. Compared non-cavitation flows, maximum amplitudes pulsation cavitating flow.

Numerical Simulation of Cavitation in Mixed Flow Pump

The purpose of this study is to investigate the performance and three-dimensional behavior of the flow in a mixed flow pump and the way cavitation phenomenon is affected by different parameters such as fluid temperature, pump speed and flow rate. Computational fluid dynamic software FLUENT 6.3 was utilized to simulate the whole flow field of the pump. RNG k-ε model combined with standard wall f...

Experimental Study and Three-Dimensional Numerical Flow Simulation in a Centrifugal Pump when Handling Viscous Fluids

In this paper the centrifugal pump performances are tested when handling water and viscous oils as Newtonian fluids. Also, this paper shows a numerical simulation of the three-dimensional fluid flow inside a centrifugal pump. For these numerical simulations the SIMPLEC algorithm is used for solving governing equations of incompressible viscous/turbulent flows through the pump. The k-ε turbulenc...

Impeller and volute design and optimization of the centrifugal pump with low specific speed in order to extract performance curves

Now a day centrifugal pumps are vital components of industries. Certainly, one of the most important specifications of centrifugal pumps are the performance curves. In the present work, performance curves of a centrifugal pumps are obtained by Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and as an outcome, CFD results compare by practical curves. At the first step impeller and volute are designed with tw...

Designing an Ultra-low Specific Speed Centrifugal Pump

Traditional commercial centrifugal pump designs have specific speeds (Ns) greater than 500 because low values of Ns are usually associated with low efficiency, pulsation, and a drooping head characteristic. In this instance, acceptable hydraulic performance is achieved with a unique impeller design coupled with direct current (DC) motor characteristics. When the specific speed of a centrifugal ...

Numerical Simulation of Cavitation Inception on Radial Flow Pump

Pump cavitation is the formation and subsequent collapse or implosion of vapor bubbles in a pump. It occurs when the absolute pressure on the liquid falls below the liquid’s vapor pressure. This paper describes the validation of cavitation inception on a radial flow pump which develops 21m of head at 26lps of discharge at its best efficiency point (BEP) of discharge while operating at a speed o...
